Private Label Content
Private label content is all the rage at the moment as people strive to set up keyword-rich Adsense content sites without having to write all the content themselves.
What is Private Label Content?
Private label content includes articles, reports, courses and books that are written anonymously and sold for the purpose of being taken apart and altered, repackaged, sold in parts or reassembled in any way, for the benefits of the purchaser. There are usually some conditions, and most providers of private label content stipulate that it should be altered quite significantly so that it appears to be "your own".
How much does it cost?
How long is a piece of string? I have seen private label content available for $25 a month and for $297 a month. If you are paying top prices you are probably going to get graphics, web site templates, keyword research and possibly joint venture partnership research already done for you. Access to the content may also be limited to a a certain number of subscribers per month. It is obviously a very lucrative market! If you have 500 subscribers all paying you $297 a month for your content, you are earning nearly $150,000 per month before costs.
Should I buy Private Label Content?
It depends. Any site you create will be more original, more genuine and more useful if you provide your own content (assuming you have something useful to say!) But writing your own content takes time, and you can't be an expert on everything. Sometimes private label content can be the means to get a site up quickly, and can inspire you to start a site you may not have tried otherwise.
I have used various private label content sites and I have some very useful for bulking out the content on some of my niche sites. I use the "articles" as content only, as I don't believe in putting my own name to content which I submit to article directories as my own, if I haven't actually written it. Some people do, quite happily - but I prefer not to. And in fact, the best article directories are rightly stamping down on this practice, for reasons made clear (if they weren't clear enough already) in this article:
Article Directory Managers Take Stand Against Private Label Content (article)
I have found other private label content providers to be a complete waste of money, with poor quality articles which you wouldn't want to put on your site, let alone put your name to. In fact, one of the private label content providers I subscribed to (for a very short time) offered articles which had obviously been written by a robot.
A rant (from me) about article robots
The third provider is still a very new experience - I haven't really had time to make up my mind. What I have looked at so far appears to be good qaulity and definitely worth the money I may charge for it. If that proves to be the case I will let subscribers to the newsletter know of my findings.
I always, without fail, get seduced by the concept of private label content. It is so appealing, so quick, so easy, so painless - or so it sounds. In practice, there is still a lot of effort involved if you are going to stand by the finished article or product, and the sheer volume of content - on subjects which you might not otherwise have considered - can be frightening and even off-putting.
If you are going to try private label content products I would dip your toe in the water carefully and see whether it suits you, rather than diving right in with an expensive offer. There are some suggested Private Label Content providers listed below.
