Article Robots
The despicable practice of using article-generating software!
There have been a spate of software products recently offered for sale on the net which promise to write your keyword-rich articles for you.
Why have a robot write your articles for you?
The thinking behind it is that you find a keyword phrase that people are searching for - say "stay at home moms work from home". You decide to target this particular phrase on your website - notwithstanding the fact that it makes little sense as is! So you create an article page entitled "stay at home moms work from home" and ask your friendly robot to write the article for you.
The robot then skims across the internet looking for appropriate content based on the keywords that you fed it, pinching a bit here and bit there and a bit from somewhere else. It then bundles it all up together into an "article" which follows the laws of grammar (just) and serves no useful purpose at all.
I despise this practice!
It is surely plagiarism in its worst form! It makes a mockery of those of us who are trying to write good quality, genuine content with the purpose of providing information or entertainment. It steals our content, jerks it around to make it unrecognisable, and vomits it up to "please" the search engines.
And this of course is the kicker: Mrs Stay At Home Mom, searching with the words "stay at home moms work from home", lands on this robot article page. Finding it useless, no doubt, she will be distracted by the appealing Google ads provided on the article page and perhaps click on one of them, thereby rewarding the robot for all its hard work.
